I am an Illustration graduate, who grew up on the edge of Greater London, developing a respect for nature within an urban lifestyle. Not really belonging to either the city or countryside and yet, I am fascinated by both. The sporadic, wild patterns of nature are at a contrast to the rigid, structural architecture of an urban environment. My work studies the character of these opposing environments, both beautiful in their own respect:
“‘The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet.’”
— Andy Warhol
I constantly flow between the energy of the city and the serenity of nature. It is the conflict of modern life that fuels my practice, challenging our perceptions of the world and examining how we identify with our surroundings. My techniques are influenced by traditional watercolour paintings but have developed into my own contemporary style with ink, using strong, atmospheric colour to evoke a sense of place.
