The SCBWI Bologna Symposium is a professional conference for writers and illustrators of children's literature held in conjunction with the Bologna Book Fair in Bologna, Italy. It will take place on 22 March 2010 at the Bologna Fair Grounds. AOI members can get into the Symposium for the SCBWI members price by paying at www.scbwibologna.org You will need to mention you are an AOI member in the note box, and SCBWI will liaise with AOI to confirm your membership.

Illustrators and Author-Illustrators attendees are invited to submit three illustrations from a project or a book to be looked at and commented on by a panel of art directors before an audience of picture book creators and illustrators at the symposium break-out session 'First Look'. The deadline for submitting your artwork is February 14th, 2010. Illustrators have to sign up for the day's full Symposium in the Fair grounds, Monday 22 March, to be able to submit to First Look panel- deadline February 14. www.scbwibologna.org/symposium.php

SCBWI also has a stand this year showcasing authors and illustrators and an Illustrators Display Portfolio which is also online, and they would be delighted to have AOI members contribute (but note they entrants have to attend the Symposium).
