The Association of Illustrators was established in 1973 to advance and protect illustrators rights and encourage professional standards.
It is a non-profit making trade association dedicated to its members professional interests and the promotion of illustration. The membership consists primarily of freelance illustrators as well as agents, clients, students and lecturers.
The Association is run by an administrative staff to a Council of Management, made up of illustrators elected at the Annual General Meeting. The AOI is the only body to represent and campaign for illustrators rights in the UK. It has successfully increased the standing of illustration as a profession and improved commercial and ethical conditions
of employment.
