WIA 2015 Exhibition

The AOI presents the World Illustration Awards (WIA) 2015 in partnership with Directory of Illustration.

fwewqewqSince 1976 the Awards have grown in scope and prestige to become the most important international industry event of the year. The WIA acknowledges illustration as an important contributor to visual culture and creates a platform for recognition of the finest work in the industry. The awards showcase a global perspective on illustration and celebrates diversity of style, content and medium.

The WIA have 8 categories – Advertising, Books, Children’s Books, Design, Editorial, Public Realm, Self Initiated and Research & Knowledge Communication. This year 1200 artists, from all around the world, submitted 2000 projects for consideration. The international judging panel selected a shortlist of 165 works from the competition, that you can see on our website.

34This WIA exhibition was curated from highlights of the shortlist, including 16 New Talent and Professional award winners from each of the 8 categories. On show is a slideshow showcasing the whole shortlist as well as artists prints, animations, sculptures and videos. The main awards, Overall New Talent Award and Overall Professional Award, were given to category winners whose work has been deemed exceptional and has made an outstanding contribution in its field.
