We got a copy of the Sneaker Colouring Book from Laurence King publishing. At a loss on how to review it, we all set about colouring them in. The full AOI collection can be seen in our reviews section. In the meantime, here is the contribution from Paul Davis.

AOI attended the London Book Fair on 20 April, helping to swell the numbers unfortunately reduced by volcanic activity. The vast Earls Court halls were full of stands, with a large variety of publishers present, and there appeared to be a fair amount of business going on.
AOI Board member, Annabel Hudson was one of the ten winners of this year’s London Book Fair Children’s Illustration Competition 2010. The judges for the competition included Chris Riddell, illustrator, author and political cartoonist, Bruce Ingman, author and illustrator, and Deirdre McDermott, picture book publisher at Walker Books.
For the first time this year, and as part of a new initiative to promote illustration, the London Book Fair teamed up with children’sillustrators.com to present a dedicated “Illustrators Corner” at this year’s fair, and the winning entries were displayed on large panels in this area. Winners were also invited to a new networking event with art directors and publishers. ‘Brilliant fun, ‘said Annabel, ‘and an amazing opportunity for the individual illustrators to promote their work.’

We attended the private view (or “special glug evening”) of Pick Me Up at Sommerset House last night. A fantastic who’s who in graphic art & illustration from the mischevious Le Gun’s massive “Le Bum”, Rob Ryan’s in-gallery workshop, AOI regulars NoBrow shop and the Dalston Print Club doing some live screen-printing.
