Judy Penny is a founder, creative director, educator, mentor and perpetual student with a belief that passion, dedication, imagination & simplicity can have the power to move people and make a difference.
In 2000, she founded ThinkPenny Branding & Design, a multidisciplinary boutique firm in Miami with a focus on strategic brand development, visualizations, print, collateral and web for the luxury category in retail, development, travel & hospitality. Diverse clients include W South Beach, Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club | Grenada, Audemars Piguet, The Standard, LVMH, Deckers, Forest City, ICSC, Sony, Pegiva and Al Barari | Dubai.
Previously she was a VP, Creative at Hill Holiday and Mullen. She worked on brands including Puma, Rockport, Polaroid, Ocean Spray, American Express, Carnival Cruise Lines, Dominos and Gillette. Her work has been recognized with One Show Gold, NY Andy Awards Gold, International Festivals Gold, NY Art Directors Club, Clio, D&AD and Communication Arts.
She has served as a judge for Communication Arts Advertising Annual, Art Director’s Club and has taught Typography, Graphic Design and Visual Thinking for many years at Miami Ad School, where her students work has been awarded by D&AD, Graphis and Type Directors Club. She believes in teaching her students to be design thinkers. “To open minds and encourage students to see things in new and interesting ways is what I try to inspire. That, and a love of typography, the importance of craftsmanship, and the desire to make the most of every opportunity to do great work. Plus, to have fun - the joy will show through in the work!”
